Probably too much of the time in class my mind is racing, my mouth is running, and I don’t even look around. But Austin could make me stop. Not because he really did anything or said anything in particular but because his sincere brown eyes were so intent, so kind, and so attentive that he made me a little more aware and a little calmer too. Austin’s desk was right in front of mine, and I enjoyed his quiet way of making observations and his astute and sometimes startlingly honest commentary, which of course were always followed by that Austin half smile…which of course always made me smile. I can’t imagine the heartbreak and pain that his family and friends are feeling, but I hope that someday soon you can find some comfort too in the memory of what an exceptional young man Austin was.

Austin and his classmates launched the EAST program at the Prairie Grove Middle School. His leadership in my class helped pave the way for future students to follow- path well paved, Austin. Because of your hard work your legacy is still being followed in my classroom to this day. Thank you for being genuine, honest in nature, and willing to work hard- even when you didn't know what the exact outcome would be; most of all thank you for trying your best and being the absolute best at everything that you set your mind to.... you will be truly missed Austin! I hope you know how very proud that I am of you!!! Prayers go out to your entire family in this difficult time. Rest in peace, Austin- we love you.

I met Austin at Haas Hall, he was such a great and wonderful guy. He was so funny in class together. We also got to know each other very well. My prayers are with the family.

I have very fond memories of him at the many gatherings of Charlotte and Tubby's. I enjoyed watching him grow into a handsome young man. I will always remember his bright shinning smile and fun personality.

I remember that bright smile that could light up a whole room. I first met Austin in Thursday school when we were four years old. He grew into such a great young man.

Austin was a good kid. He'll be missed dearly by everyone who knew him. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Austin was a great young man and I have treasured him since junior high. I loved having him in the office with me last year while he was a senior! He will always be my "Dear Austin".

I remember him running for student council and of course something about "running like a deere" in his slogan and on flyers, and I remember you Gaylene, trying to capture those fliers after the wind got them.
