Obituary

Bob K Moore
94, a resident of Decatur, Arkansas passed away July 31, 2015 in Gravette, Arkansas. He was born February 20, 1921 in Augusta, Kansas, the son of William R. and Ruby Mae Kygar Moore.

Bob developed a strong work ethic early in life, caddying at the age of 8 for golfers at Meadowlark Golf Course in Wichita, KS. While in high school, he and his older brother Bill established a farm in Pineville, MO, for their parents who remained in Wichita. Being city boys, they knew nothing about farming, but through their ingenuity and determination, they learned. He graduated from high school in Pineville, MO, and attended college at Miltonvale Weslyan College.

Back in Wichita, he went to work for The Boeing Company, in the Military Aircraft Systems Division, until enlistment in the US Navy. Bob worked as an Aviation Machinist while serving his country. On November 21, 1941, he married his sweetheart, Leta Mae Davidson, and they moved around the country while he completed his tour. Their first son, William Ray Moore was born in Atlanta, GA, in 1948. A second son, Gregory Kent Moore, was born in Wichita, KS in 1952. Bob returned to work for Boeing after leaving the Navy.

Bob was introduced to flying at the early age of 14. He soloed in the 1940’s and worked at Parkaire Field, in Marietta, GA. While at Parkaire, he survived two plane crashes. He moved his family to Noel, MO, in 1956, opening Moore’s Drive-In south of town. Serving patrons from three states, the drive-in specialized in barbeque meats and hamburgers. His love of flying led him to Peterson Industries in Decatur, AR, in the 1960’s, where he worked until retirement as an airplane mechanic and pilot. He flew baby chicks and personnel all over the US.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife Leta and one son William Ray Moore.

Survivors include one son Greg Moore and wife Cindy of Joplin, Missouri; three grandchildren Elissa Adam and husband Josh, Nathanael Moore and wife Megan, and Adriel Maddy and fiance' Nate; five great grandchildren Dayan, Jonathan, Joey, Oliver and Aubrey.
