I was still a child when I first met Gene. He always treated me with kindness and respect. His sense of humor was probably my favorite trait. He loved laughing and telling jokes. Over the years I had the pleasure of hearing many stories from when he was in the Navy and when he was a young boy. He came from a generation of people that had a very hard life. He was above and beyond one of the toughest individuals I've ever known. Over the years I gained his trust and the past 8 years I tried my absolute best to take care of him and do whatever I could for him. We definitely had a special relationship. I loved and respected him like a second dad. He was knowledgable about so many things. Your fight was long and hard--rest now-you deserve to be in peace.
