Obituary

Gregory Dale Samuels, 67 of Farmington, passed away from this life on Tuesday, April 11th, in the Willard Walker Hospice Home of Fayetteville after a 5 ½ year battle with cancer.

Greg was a US Army Veteran, having served at Fort Richardson, Alaska. He was a 20-year retail grocery icon in this area, and then received his journeyman plumbers license and worked 24 years for his brother, Mike. Greg retired in 2011, due to his health.

Greg was born on March 5, 1950 in Huntsville, the second born son of McKinley and Elsie Eubanks Samuels. He was preceded in death by son Matthew and nephew Jonathan Samuels, brothers Mike and Darrel Samuels, and his dad McKinley Samuels.

Greg is survived by his wife of nearly 48 years, Kay Periman Samuels of the home whom he married on May 3, 1969; one daughter Kaci (Johnny) Smith of Farmington and two sons, Malachi (Misty) Samuels of Farmington and Daniel (Emily Stephens) Robbins of Prairie Grove. Four sisters-in-law, Ruby Samuels and Glenda Samuels of Farmington, June (Donnie) Carnahan of Russellville, and Rita (John) Odell of Cleburne, Texas; seven grandchildren, Alyssa Crews Ferguson, Clint Crews, Garrick Crews, Hailey Smith, Lauren Smith, Easton Robbins and Savannah Robbins. Greg is also survived by numerous loving nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and his four-legged sidekick, Keystone, who remained his constant companion throughout his illness.

A memorial service to celebrate Greg’s life will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 15th, at Farmington Church of Christ with Minister Mike Raines officiating. Private interment will be in the Farmington Cemetery.

Those of you knew Greg know he was never formal, so casual dress is encouraged.

I spent a lot of time working around Greg back when we were building houses in Farmington. He was a good plumber and a good man. I am sorry for your loss.

May the family find comfort in loving memories, and in knowing that God is "close to those that are broken at heart; and he saves those who are crushed in spirit." (Psalm 34:18) Our loving Creator, Jehovah God, has promised to soon "swallow up death forever...and wipe the tears from all faces" (Isaiah 25:8). With deepest sympathy.
