Travis Eugene Nash

Travis Nash son of Floyd and Dorothy Nash, was born March 12, 1932. Gene, as his friends and family called him, met and married Juanita Mae Morford on December 7, 1951. Through this union they were blessed with three sons, Rickey Dewayne, Steven Eugene and Gregory Lynn. Traveling and raising their three boys, Gene worked in the oil field for many years, before settling for some time in Fargo Oklahoma. Both Gene and Juanita enjoyed the horses they raised, and working on their hobby farm while running a drilling business. The boys grew and worked with their dad and eventually, each went on to own their own drilling company. Gene was always very proud of the independence they all inherited from both he and Juanita. Their family grew when the boys each married and over the years they were blessed with 12 grand children. In the later years of marriage Gene and Juanita moved to Minnesota to be close to the family they both loved. Gene and Juanita’s chapter came to a close on December 15, 2006 when she was taken to her heavenly home. Gene stayed with family as he mourned the loss of Juanita, his partner and first love of 55 years. The next chapter of Gene’s life begins when he returned to Arkansas in the spring of 2007. While reconnecting with childhood friends and spending lost time with his brothers, James and Wayne, he met his last love of his life. Helen not only became his wife but also his best friend when they married June 3, 2009. This union expanded the Nash Clan by three with Helen's children Tammie, Bobby and her grandchild Mandy. If you knew Gene, then you know where family was concerned he believed "the more the merrier.” He and Helen shared a love of dancing, and could be seen two stepping around the floor, with eyes only for each other. Gene was heard saying many times how Helen had always felt a part of his life. He had generously shared his whole life with Helen, giving her distinct privilege of being involved in his complete life. He shared with her all the trials, triumphs, ups and downs his life had been. He and Helen traveled several times to Minnesota to visit children and grandchildren, where Helen discovered she was loved and embraced by the large and noisy Nash family. In the seven years Gene and Helen were married, they were active at the Senior Center and made many life long friends. Gene never let a moment pass without telling Helen and his kids how much he loved them. The Nash family lost a wonderful husband, father and grandfather April 6, 2016. Although we are greatly saddened by his passing, we take comfort in the fact Gene is rejoicing with his Heavenly Father and is enjoying a reunion with his beloved son Rick and all the friends and family who have gone on before him.
