Vera Marie Greene Newtown
97, a resident of Lincoln, Arkansas passed away May 13, 2016 in the Western Kentucky Veteran’s Center in Hanson, Kentucky. She was born on December 18, 1918 in Highland Park, Illinois, the daughter of George and Adelaide Inman Greene.
She was a WW II Woman Marine Corps Reserve veteran.
She has joined her husband Glenford in the loving arms of their savior.
Vera formerly resided in their retirement home on Krie Road in Washington County.
She is survived by two sons, Glenford A. Newtown, Jr. and wife Ann and George A. Newtown and wife Barbara; five grandchildren: Glenn III, Gary and wife Amy, Miranda, Elizabeth and husband Eric Gore, and David; five great-grandchildren: Whitney, Hayley, Elizabeth, Sean, (and almost here) Robin.
Visitation is on Thursday, May 19 from 6-7 pm at Luginbuel Funeral Home in Prairie Grove, AR. Burial is on Friday, May 20 at 10 am at the National Cemetery in Fayetteville, AR. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, May 21 at 10:30 am at Peace Lutheran Church in Prairie Grove, AR There will be a meal immediately following this service, and all are welcome.

I knew Vera for about 40 years. She was the sweetest, toughest, most agreeable traveling companion. We had wonderful trips hauling horses to Louisiana. I miss her.
