Barbara Yvonne Samples
Obituary
Barbara “Yvonne” Samples
88, of Farmington, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 9, 2026, in Fayetteville. She was born on July 20, 1937 in Alamosa, Colorado, to Fred and Erin Mershon.
Yvonne loved God, Family, & Friends! She was married to Al, the love of her life, at the age of 16 for 72 years until his passing last year. She was a very strong willed and motivated but kind person. She was the type of person that when she walked into a room everyone knew she had arrived. She worked as a superintendent secretary, legal secretary, and was a bookkeeper for several small businesses most of her life but was also a homemaker. Her favorite hobby and what many knew her for was her baking. She loved to bake pies for church events, give away, or just for anyone that wanted to stop by and have a piece of pie with coffee. She also had a passion for watching sports, where her favorite teams were the Arkansas Razorbacks and Dallas Cowboys.
She was preceded in death by her husband, and parents.
Those she left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Sandy Tennant and husband Steven of Farmington, Arkansas; her son, Shon Samples and wife Tina of Elkins, Arkansas; her sister, Donna Kilmer of Abilene, Texas; and her brother, Ron Mershon of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Yvonne’s legacy also lives on through her five grandchildren - Rodney Howard (Jennifer), Kimberly Berger (Mike), Addison Tennant, Heath Samples (Katie), and Derek Samples (Brittany) - and her seven great-grandchildren, who will forever remember her for her servitude and punctuality.
The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 4:00-5:00 p.m. at Luginbuel Funeral Home in Prairie Grove, Arkansas.
Funeral Service will be held Monday, April 13, 2026 - 10:00 a.m. at Prairie Grove Church of Christ. Burial will be in the Farmington Cemetery, there will be no graveside services held.
Memorials may be made to Gospel Tract International 2125 N Center St., Fayetteville, Arkansas 72701.
