Carl Burnell Schafer

Carl Burnell Schafer of Fayetteville, Arkansas passed away on June 25, 2016 in Fayetteville at the age of 81. Carl was born on March 10, 1935 in Bunker, Missouri to Ervin Matthew and Zilla Annabel Goforth Schafer. He was preceded in death by both parents, his first wife, Joyce Schafer, son, Matthew Schafer, sisters, Earlene Jones and Ruth Tolleson, brothers, Ray Schafer, Pern Schafer, and Melvin Schafer and daughter, Mary Joy Elzey.

Carl was a member of the Wiggins United Methodist Church. He was a farmer and ranch hand and loved nature and working in his garden. Carl loved his family deeply and took pride in everything that he did.

Carl is survived by his wife, Ruth Schafer of the home; daughters, Carlene Welch and her husband Jim of Roger, Arkansas, Willene Schafer of California, Arlene Morgan of Oklahoma, and Martha Kay Grimes of Florida; sons, Carlos Schafer and wife Barbara of California, and John Pyburn Schafer and his wife Trinia of Fort Smith, Arkansas; a brother, Eugene Schafer; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a host of other friends and loved ones.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 28 at Moore's Funeral Chapel from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.. Services will be Wednesday, June 29th, at Moore's Funeral Chapel at 2 p.m. followed by burial at Farmington Cemetery under the direction of Moore's Funeral Chapel.
