Obituary

Christopher Ryan Baker, age 35, of Springdale, Ark., died Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale. He was born July 1, 1977, in Fayetteville, to Larry and Vicki Sturgis Baker.

Chris was a 1995 graduate of Prairie Grove High School. At age 15, he began working in radio, first as a board operator. He worked at several local stations and was best known as an on-air personality at Power 105.7 during the 1990s. He later worked for Toyota of Fayetteville, starting in sales and ultimately managing internet sales.

Chris loved fast cars, motorcycles, and skydiving, and music was his second language. Friends speak of him as the guy who made everyone laugh about everything. God gave him that quick wit and ready smile, and he also gave him a kind heart.

He was greatly loved and will be sorely missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother; and his grandparents, Dee Baker and Leslie H. and Virginia Fiegel Sturgis.

He is survived by his brother, Larry Dee Baker and his wife, Angela, and a nephew, Ethan Baker, all of Prairie Grove; his grandmother, Dorothy Baker of Marked Tree, Ark., and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation will be 1:30 p.m. – 3 p.m. today, March 7, 2013, at Luginbuel Chapel in Prairie Grove. A memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. at the chapel, with Rev. Mike Whorton officiating.

What can you say about Chris??!!! I can still hear what his voice sounded like, his smile lit up a room, and the boy had soul!!! No one can change what is now but as far as I'm concerned there better be one hell of a dj mix when I walk towards that light one day!!! One thing I know that boy is gettin jiggy with it "old school" style while our hearts miss him! He was loved because that's all he gave to us all.... Love, smiles and some damn good dance music!!! It's hard to be sad knowing he's mixing it up for everyone up there, but we love you and you were such a class act!!!!
