Tributes

We were fortunate to be neighbors & friends with Mr. Claude for almost 3 years. He was an amazing man & he quickly gained a place in our hearts.
We shared flowers & plants with each other over those years. We also shared food, Claude would bring us unique dishes that he prepared. Mine were never as interesting as his were, but he seemed to enjoy them. He was quite interesting to visit with &
we enjoyed our visits with him. He packed a lot of living in his 92+ years. I’ve already caught myself looking down to see if he was setting on his porch enjoying the evening. Not only will we miss him, but the whole neighborhood will & it's sad that we won’t see him walking down our street anymore with his little dog, Jethro. You will be greatly missed, Mr. Claude. Rest in Peace, it is your turn.

Claude
Mike and I discovered Claude on Facebook after we did not have contact with him and his family for fifty years! The last time we saw all of them together was when they lived in Springs, South Africa. We subsequently moved to Canada where we have been for the past 28 years.
Once we reconnected with Claude we started talking about the good old times.
He was sixteen years old when he stayed with Mike’s parents for a short time when he was apprenticed to become a diamond cutter. At that time Mike was three years old.
Needless to say, Mike and Claude had a lot of catching up to do and we spent hours on the phone reminiscing on the past. There was so much we still wanted to know! Then there was the uneasy silence… we couldn’t connect with him for several days. We knew he was not well but didn’t think it was that bad.
It was quite a shock when his sister Esme contacted us and told us that he did not make it!
The Prinsloo family played a very significant role in our lives growing up and we have fond memories.
Our sincere condolences to his family. His wife, Pat, his three children Oleta, Howard, Connie and his two sisters Esme and Eunice. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
