Obituary
Deanna Elizabeth Miller
Deanna Elizabeth Miller passed away peacefully on August 21, 2025, at Katherine’s Place in Fayetteville, Arkansas surrounded by her children. Born July 23, 1941, in Oneida, New York, to Flora Gips and George Dodge, Deanna married John Miller in 1958 at “The Little Church Around the Corner” in New York City before embarking on their journey to Arkansas where they were among the first to settle in Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas. She and John sold real estate in Horseshoe Bend for over 40 years and welcomed many new families and retirees to the community.
Deanna was an active member of the Horseshoe Bend community and the United Methodist Church where she sang soprano in the choir. She volunteered for many years coordinating the annual Dogwood Days Festival in Horseshoe Bend and enjoyed gardening, golfing, and boating on Crown Lake with family and friends. Stubbornness was a characteristic Deanna proudly owned, giving credit to her Dutch heritage on her mother’s side. Deanna would feed you when you entered her orb, hungry or not, with wonderful home cooked meals and her legendary sourdough bread, prepared from a starter she kept active for years. She was caring and loving, always willing to go the extra mile to bring comfort and care to others.
Deanna was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, John Malcolm Miller, Jr. and her son John Malcolm Miller, III. She is survived by son James Robert Miller and wife Teri Huffaker, of Fayetteville, Arkansas; daughter Kathryn Elizabeth Anderson of Farmington, Arkansas; son John Wesley Miller of Cabot, Arkansas; grandson Liam Malcolm Miller of Cabot, Arkansas; brother David Dodge of Carlsbad, California; sister Connie Porter of Littleton, Colorado; sister Pat Kleckley and husband Wade, of Lexington, South Carolina, and brother Pete Penoyer and wife Jane, of Fort Collins, Colorado.
The family will hold a private service at a future date.
Deanna’s family is grateful for the excellent care and compassion shown by the caregivers at Katherine’s Place and Circle of Life Hospice.
Arrangements by the Luginbuel Funeral Home of Prairie Grove, Arkansas.
