I remember a long time ago when my children were small. We went over to Bob and Patsy's for the 4th of July. We women were down south in the yard and the men were up north of us with a big box of fireworks they were getting ready to shoot. All of a sudden I heard the guys shouting, "Get outta the way! Run!! Run!!" I saw Billy sweep Jimmy up in his arms, Bob had Doug in his, and my dad was running for his life. Suddendly the box just started exploding!!!Every where!!! Everything was going off all at once. I think it was told that Jimmy had dropped a match...but he was too little. We should have known that day what loving Doug Munyon was going to be like.... surprising, loud and fun!

Doug was like a brother to me. Everytime we worked together it was always the most peaceful and the most fun. He was so good at what he did and yet he didn't feel the need to try and brag about himself. Every patient got the very best care. In his personal life he was passionate about his son's well being and fought tooth and nail to make sure he could give him the best life that he could provide. He loved that boy more than he loved himself. I loved his smile..his laugh and his amazing energy when it was time to get things done. I will miss him terribly from the bottom of my heart. I love you forever "Doogie".

To the Munyon family, Doug was a great guy...full of life and laughter. We worked together during the Eureka days when Doug was on duty there and I worked at the Eureka hospital. He was a talented paramedic and a great friend. We both changed jobs and loss track of each other. I am so sorry for your loss. He will never be forgotten. I know I will always remember him with a smile.

I am deeply sorry for the family's loss and offer my respect and condolences. Doug was a fun loving spirit, who obviously enjoyed helping others, by the evidence of his chosen profession. He will be greatly missed.
Chrissy Duncan (price) - Classmate
I don't believe Doug met many people who didn't immediately like him. He was a great person. He wasn't one to discriminate who he befriended based on social connections, and that was something which I always admired and respected in him. It's impossible to imagine he's no longer with us, with his crazy humor and that twinkle in his eye. Hopefully his son will grow up remembering the good times with his dad, that he loved him and wanted only the best for him. He was one of the great ones.
Christina (pettigrew) Womack - Friend From High School
Where do I begin? Doug was an amazing guy and touched many lives. I feel priviledged to have been present during one of the many occasions where his education and passion for life made the difference in another's. I saw him save a life that day on the side of highway 62 outside Eureka Springs. His decisions were methodical and his actions precise. I envied him. That was one day of his 12 year career. My only regret is that time and distance hindered our friendship through no fault of his own. I am very proud to have known Doug and will miss him greatly. If there is anything I can do to assist the family, please do not hesitate. Goodbye Doug. I'm sorry I was not there. I should have been.
Ron Davis Jr - Friend
Bob, Patsy, Joey and Kevin, Every memory we have of Doug brings a smile or a laugh. We have been thinking about him a lot since last Thursday and laughing. The class of 1992 was and is a true "Class Act" These are the words Doug used when he signed my yearbook...He also told me to "take care of yourself throughtout your life and make it the fullest" I know that Doug lived by these words. I know that he lived his life to the fullest and made each day count. I will always remember his laugh, the way he could spin a basketball on his finger and how he could put his left shoulder out of socket upon prompting from a friend. Doug actually let me get a picture of that for the yearbook (page 84) :o) He always made time for me if I needed to ask him a question. He always had a smile for everyone and I will always consider him a friend. My prayer is that your son grow up to know how wonderful you are, how gifted you are and how many people you helped and saved thru your profession. Good bye #12, you will be missed but never forgotten.
Casie (hartwell) Ruland - Friend From High School
Doug was somebody that everyone wanted as a friend. He was always making people laugh with his crazy antics. Those long basketball trips weren't long enough when he was on the bus! I was completely surprised when I heard the he had become a paramedic. I never saw that coming! Life takes us all in different directions. Time and Distance work hard to turn friends into strangers. We just have to work harder. I knew Doug, though I wish I had known him better, for I am a better person for knowing him.

I met Doug almost 10 years ago while working for ES Police through a dear friend Bobby Weber. Doug always went out of his way to make people feel loved, needed and important. I know he always did with me. I was greatful to finally get to meet his family while helping with Brett's birthday party in March. You truly are as extrodinary as he had clamed you were. Brett you are a wonderful little man and you are strong. He loved you more than anything. I will forever miss hearing him calling me "my Jessi." God Bless

Doug was one of the sweetest people I have ever met. I cannot imagine him being gone. When I first moved to Eureka Springs he was one of the first people I met. We both lived at Valley View Mobile home park. Later I worked at the White Street Cafe and had the pleasure of waiting on him almost every morning. I can remember him talking about his son. He loved him so much. There was never a morning that Doug didn't make me smile. He usually had the whole room smiling. I will never forget him, his laughter, and his sense of humor. I can remember him giving me a hard time for forgetting his picante sauce. I lost my brother in February. He was only 36. I know that him and Doug will have lots of stories to tell each other in heaven about Eureka Springs. Doug was one of the best people I have ever met. I know that a lot of people looked up to him. Doug, you were the best, and always will be. We love you!!!

I only heard of Doug's passing today. I'm beyond shocked, it's so hard to take in, as all of you know. Always willing to help out whenever needed, he was like a ray of sunshine, always knew how to make you smile. I not only had the pleasure of calling him a friend, but also got to work with him at times, I worked at the Eureka Springs Hospital and the nursing home there. He had a beautiful soul, and will forever be missed. To his family, my prayers and love go with you now and always. And remember he is looking down from heaven. God see's the heart. I wanted to stop by and say Happy Halloween to Doug. I have thought about him all day. I can remember a few years back seeing him and Brett trick or treating in Eureka on Halloween. Doug had the neatest costume. I didn't even know him. He finally had to tell me who he was. He was one of the most wonderful men I have ever met. I still can't believe that I won't get to see him in Eureka Trick or Treating tonight. He is in a much better place trick or treating tonight. I only think that he might have one problem. They will all look alike because they are all dressed as angels. Rest in peace Doug, and say Hi to my brother for me. I know he is there too. I love you. Always have and always will. You truely were a great friend!!Happy Halloween!!!
