Eddie Dean Cooksey

59, of Fayetteville, died Sunday, January 11, 2009 at Washington Regional Medical Center.

He was born February 28, 1949 in Fayetteville, the son of Mearl & Lula Harp Cooksey.

He was a Disabled American Veteran wounded in Saigon in July 1970 during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal with 2d Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Purple Heart, Air Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Medal & Combat Infantryman Badge. He liked singing, hunting, riding tractors & cooking.

He is survived by: A son: Joseph Cooksey of Fayetteville Two daughters: Jessica Cooksey of Fayetteville Michelle Pond of Tulsa, OK His father: Mearl Cooksey of Fayetteville A sister: Alice Harvey & her husband Keith of Fayetteville Two brothers: Roger Cooksey & his wife Anita of Fayetteville William Cooksey & his wife Linda of Fayetteville Three grandchildren: Tessa Mae, Alexis Dawn & Daylee

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, January 15 at Moore’s Chapel Officiating will be Rev. Billy Byrd Burial will be in McDonald Cemetery, West Fork Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 pm Wednesday at Moore’s Chapel.
