Elzie Edwin Carlton

72, of Fayetteville AR, died Thursday, May 14, 2009 at Washington Regional Medical Center.

He was born November 2, 1936 in Murray Arkansas, to Leonard and Oma Holland Carlton. Elzie led a very active life, traveling to Washington and Oregon while he was a teenager to pick apples. He drove a truck for a while, worked at the Fulbright Lumber Company and Deep Rock Service Station on Highway 62 and Razorback Road. It was here that he found what he liked to do. He was a top notch mechanic, and he loved to visit with his customers. He took over running the station after Kerr McGee took over and ran it until they sold the location to the University of Arkansas. He bought Bud’s Foreign Auto Shop in Greenland September 1, 1994 and did business in Greenland Community until his death. He was preceded in death by his twin brother Eldin Carlton who died at birth and his older brother Richard Carlton.

He is survived by: wife of 51 years Thelma Ann Carlton, of Fayetteville A son: David Wayne Carlton and wife Cheryl Ann (Hansen), of Brentwood, AR A daughter: Cynthia Ann Carlton, of Fayetteville, AR Brothers: Stanley Clinton Carlton, of Stilwell OK, Jimmy Leonard Carlton, of Springdale AR, Bobby Carlton, of Summers AR Sisters: Faye (Carlton) Bailey, of Stilwell OK, and Ginger (Carlton) Reed, of Canehill AR Two Grandchildren: Rachel Annette Carlton, of Fayetteville AR and Megan Ann Carlton, of Brentwood AR

Services will be held at 10:00 am, Monday at Moore’s Chapel. Burial will be in Bethesda Cemetery. Officiating: Lloyd Thomas Visitation: 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm Sunday at Moore’s Chapel.
