When the call to arms was sounded he volunteered to fight for the Confederate cause and fought valiantly to the finish.
About 30 years ago he made a profession to his faith in Christ and united with the Cumberland Presbyterian church and has lived an upright, consecrated life. The funeral took place from the church Wednesday afternoon, the pastor, Rev. F.A. Grundy, assisted by Rev. T.P. Harrison, conducting the service and the burial was made in the Prairie Grove Cemetery. The members of the Prairie Grove Camp of Confederate Veterans and the Daughters of the Confederacy attended in a body and the Confederate marker and magnolia wreaths, tied with Confederate emblems, red and white ribbon, were placed upon the mound of each of these brothers.
