Janet McAllister Collier

of Fayetteville, died September 5, 2011 at home. She was born May 13, 1945 at Fayetteville City Hospital to Alonzo Dallas McAllister Junior and Virginia Porter McAllister.

Janet was a member of First Christian Church of Fayetteville.

During her life, Janet was an active volunteer and Board Member of the Boys Club in Fayetteville, a volunteer at the Rape Crisis Center, worked off and on at Collier Drug Store and as a legal secretary for her father at McAllister and Wade, Attorneys at Law.

Janet enjoyed being a mother and loved attending her children’s activities and events. As a life-hobby, Janet, was an avid horse lover. Once the grandchildren were born, Janet threw herself into being Nana. The grandchildren LOVED their Nana!

She was preceded in death by her father and many aunts and uncles.

Janet is survived by the love of her life, husband of 46 years, Carl Melvin Collier, a son, Carl Melvin (Mel) Collier Junior, a daughter, Meredith Collier Dowse and her husband, Brant, her mother, Virginia Porter McAllister, her brother, Alonzo Dallas (Lonnie) McAllister III, and four grandchildren.

Cremation will be under the direction of Luginbuel Funeral Home of Prairie Grove.

A celebration of Janet’s life will be held Sunday, September 11 at Teatro Scarpino, 329 N West Avenue in Fayetteville, from 3-6 p.m.
