Kathie June Leon
Obituary
Kathie June Leon, 68, a resident of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, January 18, 2026 in Springdale, Arkansas. She was born July 27, 1957 in Peoria, Illinois, the daughter of James Warren and Dorothy (Mercer) Jones.
Kathie was a loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt, caregiver, and friend. She was a strong advocate for her son, Billy, and devoted herself fully to his care. Kathie had a heart for helping others, whether with her time or her money. If she had it and you needed it, it was yours. She was a caregiver to several people over the years, but her longest and most meaningful role was caring for Brooke Thurman. Kathie cared for Brooke for over 30 years and formed a strong, lasting relationship with both Brooke and her mother, Jennifer. As Kathie's health began to deteriorate, she returned to Arkansas. She fought hard over the last few years, but her body finally gave out. She will be deeply missed by the many lives she touched.
She is preceded in death by her husband Petche Leon, her parents, and two sisters, Yvonne Wright and Peggy Cochran.
She is survived by one son Billy Jean Finney; three siblings, Kristie Jones(Kevin); James Jones(Jan), Karen Parker (Phillip); and her uncle, Robert Mercer. As well as numerous nieces and nephews.
