Kris Lyle Turpin
Obituary
Kris Lyle Turpin was born on August 17, 1959 to Charles and Rosemary Turpin. He grew up in Kansas City, Missouri, and had one older brother, Steve Turpin of Lowell, Arkansas.
Kris graduated from Ruskin High School in 1977 as Valedictorian. He began work as a pipe fitter apprentice before becoming a journeyman pipe fitter. It was during this time that he and Amy’s close friends led Kris to receive Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.
Kris married Amy L. Heckert on December 22, 1984. They have four sons: Andrew and Alex, born in 1986; Brent born in 1988; and Bruce born in 1990; all in the Kansas City area. He moved his family to Florida in 1991 to work in general maintenance and as a grounds keeper for Keswick Bible Conference before moving to Arkansas in 1995. Kris had a lifelong dream of owning his own business, which he achieved when he opened a dog kennel in 1996. He owned and operated Morning Star Farms with his family until 2012, when he closed the business to pursue new opportunities.
Kris is remembered by his friends and family for his love of singing at church and with his karaoke group, his passion for bowling, and his endless desire to give of his time and energy to support his church, friends, and family. He served as the worship leader at First Baptist Church of Lincoln followed by Howe-Savoy Bible Church. His many gifts to Howe-Savoy Bible Church included service as a greeter, maintenance projects, leading the singing, church board member, and greeting by name every member of the church each Sunday.
Above all, Kris was a follower of Christ. He surrendered his life to his Lord and Savior in 1982, and led his family in the pursuit of Christ until he was called home to be in the presence of our Lord on February 6, 2026.
Kris was preceded in death by his mother Rosemary and his father Charles in 2014. He is survived by his brother Steve, his wife Amy of 41 years, and by his sons: Andrew (Carolanne), Alex (Jackie), Brent (Jessie), and Bruce (Jessica). He had twelve grandchildren: Genesis, Ezra, Jordyn, Mason, Scarlet, Meredith, Mitchell, Kaden, Calvin, Owen, Declan, and Emma.
The funeral service will be Thursday, February 12 at 11:00 A.M. at Luginbuel Funeral Home in Prairie Grove, Arkansas, with Pastor Cotton Presley of Howe-Savoy Bible Church officiating.
