Luther Lloyd Shipley
90, a resident of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, passed away May 23, 2007, in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He was born February 11, 1917, at Tontitown, Arkansas, the son of John and Gertrude Jones Shipley.
He retired from Gold Kist - Farmers Co-Op.
He was preceded in death by his wife Agnes "Granny" Shipley and one granddaughter, Lynn Disney.
Survivors include one son, Kenneth Shipley and wife Margaret of Springdale, Arkansas, and one daughter, Rachel Young and husband Bill of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, one sister, Cleo Abercrombie of Tontitown, Arkansas, seven grandchildren, April, Loretta, Kenny,
Rebecca, Matt, Justin, Stephanie; thirteen great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Sunday from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. the family will be present from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Luginbuel Chapel.
Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, May 29, 2007 - 10:00 A.M. at the Luginbuel Chapel Prairie Grove, Arkansas, with Craig Laird officiating. Burial will be in the Prairie Grove Cemetery, Prairie Grove, Arkansas.
Pallbearers will be Matt Young, Justin Young, John Gragg, Shelby Gragg, Walker Gragg, Lonnie Gragg, Garett Gragg, and Charlie Sol.

I met Luther in 1966 so I have known him for 40 years. He and I worked togather for many years. I considered him a dear friend. I will always remember the great times we had togather working laughing and telling tall tales. I can still remember his stories of the chicken hauling days. He had a big heart and I will always remember him.

I am so sorry about your loss. The death of a loved one is
indeed distressing. Our Creator holds in his memory our
loved ones. Having formed the first human from the dust of
the ground, he is also able to re-create someone who has
passed away. For this reason, God can view the dead as
though they were alive. Regarding faithful servants of old
who have died, Jesus said: "They are all living from (God's
) standpoint." (Luke 20:38)
While on earth, Jesus was empowered to resurrect the
dead.(John 5:21) Under Jesus' kingdom rule, there will be a
resurrection of the dead. (Acts 24:15) In time, those who
are resurrected will have the chance of everlasing life on
earth (John 5:28,29) where Jesus taught us to "pray for
God's kingdom to come so that God's will be done on the
earth as it is in heaven (Mattew 6:10) and where death will
be no more (Rev. 21:4). So your loved one will live again.

We are sorry to hear of your family's loss of Luther. I worked with Luther many years ago at Gold Kist and always enjoyed his fellowship. When I think of Luther I always think of a kind southern gentleman who would do anything to help you. I really enjoyed Luther's willingnes to share his life experiences and a little sage advice.

I loved seeing the memorial video, even though it made me cry. Rachel, it reminded me of piano concerts and "grass salad." Uncle Luther was always such a sweet man. I'm sorry I can't come to the funeral. You will all be in my thoughts & prayers, though.
