Obituary
Marilyn Jeanne Rathbun Mitchell Hobson was born February 19, 1935, in Splitlog, MO, and passed away February 20, 2026, in Springdale, AR. She is preceded in death by husbands Bobby Ray Mitchell and Leonard Hobson.
She is survived by children Donna Mitchell Smith (Raymond), Prairie Grove, AR, and Ron Mitchell, Nashville, TN. She is also survived by brother Leslie Rathbun (Jo), of Morrilton, AR, sister Elveda Eby (Tillman) of Prairie Grove, AR and brother Ralph Rathbun (Kathy), Goshen, AR. She has four grandchildren and many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Marilyn was a Registered Nurse for 40+ years. She graduated from Oklahoma State University in Oklahoma City. She was a valuable member of Deaconess Hospital for 39+ years where she had many roles. She was assistant nursing administrator, head nurse on the cardiac unit, Nursing and Patient Education Coordinator where she was responsible for policies and procedures, worked on the med-surg unit, and inspired dozens of staff to further their careers in health-related fields.
Marilyn loved her God, her family, every one of them, and made them know they were special. She loved her caregivers in her later years so much that they showered her with love and affection, which the family appreciates more than we can say. Our special thanks go to Peachtree Village, Farmington, AR, Prairie Grove Health and Rehab in Prairie Grove, AR and Circle of Life hospice, Springdale, AR, for their loving support and professional care.
