Obituary

Our Beloved, Melvin Joe Palmer went to be with his Lord on May 25, 2014 at Regency Hospital in Springdale, Arkansas. He was born July 15, 1944 at Seminole, Texas, the son of Leo Ellis Palmer and Lucille Waldrop Palmer Bush.

Melvin loved camping with his friends, horses, fishing, hunting, driving his backhoe, and above all working for his Lord and savior Jesus Christ. Melvin made many mission trips to the Philippines where he made life long friends. He also had a heart for those in prison and for many years The Way, Truth, and Life Prison Ministry gave Christ's love and support to the girls in Pine Bluff and Fayetteville. He loved his church, Unity Covenant Church of West Fork and had many friends there. Melvin was proud of his service in the United States Air Force and loved his country all his life.

Next to the Lord, Melvin loved his family which includes his wife of 47 years Pamela Palmer, one daughter, Deidre Uselton and husband Pat of West Fork, one son Leo Palmer and wife Amber of Prairie Grove and eight much loved grandchildren, Joseph, Daisy, Emma, Hanna, Daniel, Joshua, Hadassa Palmer and Sophie Uselton. He also leaves a beloved niece and nephew, Rhonda Shubber of Colorado Springs and Randall Palmer of Dover, Arkansas and many close and valued friends, especially his dear friend, Larry Fielder.

Pam and family, Heaven got a whole lot sweeter. I loved Melvin from working with him at Safeway to worshipping with him at Unity. I was glad to see how he loved the Lord and how he is praising him today face to face. Thoughts and prayers are with you during this time and I look forward to seeing Melvin again. Love, Tisha and Bill

My thoughts and prayers come deep from the Woodward's Melvin and my father loved to not agree. But any time my family needed any thing Melvin was the one to step up. I will pray for Pam, Leo, & Deidre. If the we can do anything just like that great man we will provide support. We love our family.

Dear Ms. Palmer, You probably won't remember much but you were the 5th grade teacher that I adored. That was one of the funnest years ever, and I have very special memories that I have never forgotten about that year. I was so sorry to learn of Melvin's passing, but it made me smile this morning to think of you and your family. May you be blessed during this time.

My heart goes out to you and your loved ones during this time of loss. Though you never get used to this different life without a husband, father, or grandfather, God will help you to find a way to write a new chapter in your book. Prayers for you and your family and that you will feel the hand and love of God to help you through this difficult time.

I can never say in words how much I love Melvin and Pam, or can I find enough words to express how they have touched my life, and no one can ever possibly replace the place that is reserved for them in my life and heart. There are not enough people in the world like Melvin and Pam, and we should all strive to be as good, caring, God fearing, and selfless as they are. I know no one is perfect but they are both the closest that I know, and I am so blessed to have them in my life. Pam scott and I love you both so much.
