Tributes

Mike we love you. We want to be more like you. You are a prince among men. You were a positive role model who found a way to smile no matter what or who showed up on your doorstep. May God's Comforter rest on your family with the reassurance that as a man of faith, you are in safe keep with the Lord.

Starlet, we can not express how much this hurts. The only hope we have is that we know that we will see Mike again because of his faith in Jesus Christ. I want to tell you and the boys that we will be praying for y'all during this time and in the future. It was such a blessing to have know Mike as a good friend that is why my heart is breaking for you and the boys. May the Lord Jesus Christ give you the peace that only he can bring! 1 Thessalonians 4:15-17 15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up TOGETHER with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we EVER be with the Lord.

Mike was a great friend, co-worker, and master of the "Dad joke". I was lucky to be working on my degree while he was finishing his, and I would not have finished without his support and friendship. As a staff member at HiDEC, I know Mike provided guidance to uncountable graduate students. and industry members alike. That can be a tough and frustrating task, but Mike was one of the most generous people I've ever met, and that made him a wonderful teacher and mentor. The last memory of Mike that I want to share is when he came back to work on Monday morning, and seeing his face light up as he talked about going on a fishing trip or some other family outing. Even during a late night or Saturday in the lab, it was always clear that family was the most important thing for Mike. I will miss him dearly, and my prayers are with Star, Evan, and Nathan.

I knew Mike through the Amateur Radio Club at the U of A. Mike had that rare talent, so valuable in group endeavor, to see what needed to be done and the ability to motivate others to cheerfully help make it so. Mike cannot be replaced in our organization. His good company will be sorely missed. R.I.P. AE5ZC (SK) Silent Key

Mike was one of the sweetest kindest graceful people I have ever had the chance to work with. He was always ready with a joke, even on the most stressful work days imaginable. Furthermore, he was equally ready to lend a helping hand or answer a question on those days. I used to come into his office to ask what I would call a 'thirty second question' because I was afraid to take too much of his time. Without fail he would help me answer my question and gladly take 5 or 10 minutes to do it because he was just that kind of guy. Mike, you will be sorely missed and your shoes will never be filled. Rest in Peace.

The first time I got to spend some time with Mike was when I took a fabrication course with him in 2010. It was the most fun I had in any course ever, even if half of it was spent in bunny suits in the HiDEC cleanroom. By the middle of the course, Mike was a friend – not an instructor. And he remained one ever since. I dropped by his office any time I was in ENRC – sometimes just while the shuttle was waiting for a few minutes on the way to CSRC. Because Mike always had a story to tell, and could always make you feel better about your day. Underneath that jolly personality was a man who was insightful, kind and extremely generous – if there was somehow he could help you, he would help you. He did that for me, as well as countless others who have walked the halls of HiDEC. He will be dearly missed.

I had the pleasure of working with Mike for about eight years at HiDec. It was always a pleasure working with him. We were the two design engineers there. He will be missed.

Our hearts go out to you, Star, Evan, Nathan, parents and all! We loved Mike so much, ever since that innocent 15 year old entered into our lives at 1st Immanuel MBC in Pine Bluff. A lot of years ago, and a lot of laughs along the way. So, so, so thankful God made it possible for us to help in discipling him over the years. Yet, the Lord saw fit to call His child home. We know where Mike is and will see him again - maybe soon! We are thankful that Mike knew the Lord and is in His presence. We are thankful that God gave him 45 years upon this earth and that we got to be a part of that life. It is not "goodbye," but it is "see you later!" We love you all so much and our hearts go out to you all in love. We look forward to the day that the following is realized: Revelation 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. May God comfort all. In Christ's eternal love, Tom, Melinda, Jarred and Sam Hill

This is a great loss to High Density Electronics Center at the University of Arkansas. Mike dedicated his professional career to this center and his legacy extends way beyond its boundaries. He will truly be missed. Rest in peace.

Dr. Glover was a very kind person who went out of his way to help me. I asked him technical questions over emails and he could've just responded with a 'yes' or 'no', but he took time out of his busy work to give me comprehensive responses leading me to ask questions like 'why', instead of just 'how'. He went out of his way in class to teach us useful things we ought to know (like how to use reference managers when doing research) that were not even in the curriculum. He never made me feel stupid or less knowledgeable. He was the perfect bridge between us (the students) and them (the professors). As cool and chill as a student, as astute as a prof. I had more questions for him. He will be missed.
