Roland is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Christine Brown; their children: Brandi Jones and her husband, Al Jones, and Chad Brown and his wife, Morgan Brown; and their grandchildren: Joseph (Jay), Alexis, Alliyah, Benjamin, Catherine, Alexander, and Josiah and great-granchildren Ayden and Crue, who brought him great joy and pride. He was lovingly known as Papa to them all. He is also survived by his younger brother, Lewis Brown, and his wife, Diana Brown, and was preceded in death by his brother, David Brown.
Roland was the beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend known for his sense of humor, huge heart, fierce protectiveness, and faith. He served proudly as a U.S. Army paratrooper and later worked as a landscaper, agriculturist, and semi-truck driver. He was known for safely hauling triple trailers, logging millions of accident-free miles across the country, an accomplishment that reflected his steady hands and strong work ethic.
Roland and Christine built a life filled with love, laughter, faith, adventure, raising two children, adoring their son-in-law and daughter-in-law, cherishing their grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many "adopted" kids all over the nation.
He will be remembered most for his kind heart, sense of humor, storytelling, unwavering faith, and ability to put people at ease. His nurses also know him for his love of coffee and silly jokes. Even in his final days, he found ways to smile and tease, bringing joy to those around him.
The family will gather privately to celebrate Roland's life and honor his military service as a U.S. Army paratrooper. To honor Roland's memory, donations may be made to Circle of Life Hospice or Veterans Dog Services, two causes close to his heart.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. True to his faith, Roland asked that we not mourn with sorrow but rejoice, knowing he is home with the Lord. He wanted us to smile, tell stories, and carry his love and legacy forward.
