Obituary

STEPHEN FORREST KEMPER came into this world on the bright December 4th day of 1956 (He literally couldn’t wait for Christmas). The temperature was a whopping 7 degrees with a light dusting of snow in Wichita Kansas. He was born as a middle child of five.

Steve grew up in Northwest Kansas working hard on a farm framed by vast fields of wheat and pastures filled with cattle and ring-necked pheasant. He attended school in Hoxie Kansas and graduated from high school in Lenora Kansas. He joined the Navy in 1974 and became a world traveler on the USS Seattle in 1976. Steve majored as a high-tech machinist at Crowder College in Missouri. He was a great influence during his career working with high quality corporations. Steve handed down the highest work ethics to his coworkers and especially to his two sons, Nick and Paul.

God was of utmost importance to Steve and his greatest desire was to see people delivered from the chains of bondage by the discovery of God’s awesome love, grace and mercy. His passing through Heaven’s Gates on February 18, 2022 fulfilled his ultimate desire to be face to face with his Mighty Creator and Savior, Jesus Christ. Steve especially enjoyed worship music, woodworking, gardening, camping & fishing, and observing God’s scenic and wildlife creations. His motto was, “If you ever truly fall in love with Jesus, your life will change and you will never be the same.”

Steve’s passing was preceded by his parents, Donald Charles and Alice Jean Kemper and his sister, Stephanie Smithey. He is survived by his wife, Victoria Kemper; his two sons, Nick Kemper (wife Faith) and Paul Kemper (wife Amanda); step-daughter Vanessa Foreman; two sisters, Jeanette Lang (husband Tom) and Sheryl Nelson (husband Clyde); and his younger brother Greg Kemper (wife Debbie); eight grandchildren, Destiny, Talyn, Alyssia, Jeremiah, Renee’, Troy, Connor and Logan.

Tributes

I had the pleasure of working with Steve. He made me want to be my best person. We had many talks about Jesus and where he brought us from. He always told me about his beautiful wife and how he knew God sent her to him. He also told me how he was reading all these books about heaven and he was longing to go be with daddy. I remind myself that as much as we are going to miss his light in this dark world he just graduated. All those books he read will not shine a light to what he is experiencing right now. He truly lived what he spoke. We will all miss seeing his smiling face at work knowing he had a message of love and hope.

Steve had no greater joy than to help someone understand the Love, grace and mercy of God through the Word. He believed that if he could plant the seeds of truth, the Holy Spirit would grow God’s family and bring about a great harvest. Luke 10:2 … “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask Him to send more workers into His fields.” Loving each other was never a challenge and enjoying time together in the Word of God was our priority every day. There is no doubt that we will be reunited within the Gates at my passing or at the Rapture, whichever comes first. When you think of Steve Kemper, remember that Jesus and all of those that have gone on before us are praising and rejoicing together in the Throne Room of God and will some day be receiving each of us with joy and hugs (no “social distancing” there!).

My heart hurts here on earth, but rejoices for his final resting place. His job here was completed and Steve touched many lives in a positive way. I'm so glad our paths crossed, he was always a pleasure and a light! Praying for the family.
