Obituary

Walter William Geilfuss, age 88, of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Brookstone Living Facility in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

He was born on November 19, 1936, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Walter Alfred and Elizabeth (Getzen) Geilfuss.

Walter proudly served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957, achieving the rank of Corporal. He remained active in veterans' affairs as a member and former Commander of the American Legion in Lincoln, Arkansas. He retired from Mann Brothers Construction where he was a construction superintendent over road construction for thirty plus years. He was also a dedicated member of the Rustic Relics Tractor Club, where he enjoyed sharing his love of classic machinery and community spirit.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Ruth Schroeder Geilfuss; his sister, Kathleen Grosskreutz; and his son-in-law, Daniel Stiglitz.

Survivors include his son Richard Geilfuss and his wife Rita of Trevor, Wisconsin; two daughters Debra Stiglitz of Eagle, Wisconsin, and Dana Seifert and her husband Paul of Twin Lakes, Wisconsin; seven grandchildren Danya Thompson, Nathan Seifert, Katrice Babiasz, Laura Burton, Danielle Stiglitz, Robert Stiglitz, Joshua Geilfuss and Elizabeth Hardy; eight great grandchildren Brooks Geilfuss, Evelyn Geilfuss, Eleanor Hardy, Maeve Hardy, Declan Burton, Jackson Stiglitz, Maeve Thompson, Brian Babiasz, and Brooklyn Babiasz.

Walter will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

Funeral service will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday, September 9th, 2025, at National Cemetery in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
