Rebecca Ann Jones, widow of the late M. H. Jones, passed away on a Saturday morning at the home of her son, Arthur Jones, following a stroke. Her family arranged for her body to be taken to Keys, Oklahoma, where she was laid to rest under the care of the Southern funeral service.
Born in Randolph County, Arkansas, on July 28, 1867, Rebecca grew up in a world still shaped by the hardships of the post-Civil War era. She married in her home county and built a large family whose lives would eventually stretch across several states. Her husband, M. H. Jones, preceded her in death in 1918.
Rebecca leaves behind eight children who carried her legacy into their own communities: J. B. Jones of Keys, Oklahoma; Henry Jones and Mrs. Sarenia Reese of Huntington Beach, California; L. L. Jones of Prairie Grove; Mrs. Nora Darty of Webb City, Missouri; Mrs. Francis Gill of Mefford, Oklahoma; Mrs. Verna Bruner of Strickler; and Arthur Jones of Prairie Grove. All of her children were able to gather in her final days except Mrs. Gill.
Her passing marked the close of a long life rooted in family, endurance, and the quiet strength of an Arkansas-born matriarch whose children carried her memory far beyond the place where her story began.
