Aunt Ada Foreman Passed Away Monday
“Aunt” Ada Foreman, pioneer resident of this vicinity, passed away Monday morning at 10:30 o’clock at the home of her nephew, Harry McClellan, in Cane Hill, Arkansas. The home occupied by her nephew is the old McClellan homestead.
The deceased was a lifelong friend of the late Will Rogers and holds the distinction of being the first white woman to see Will Rogers after his birth. “Aunt” Ada gained a reputation with Will for her ability to bake cornbread the way he enjoyed.
The Foremans, along with a number of other prominent families of Claremore, came to Indian Territory and settled in the vicinity north of the present-day Claremore many years before statehood.
She is survived by three daughters:
Mrs. Lula Lipe, of Nowata
Mrs. James Kennedy, of Beaumont, Texas
Mrs. D. J. Faulkner, of Claremore
And one son:
Major T. W. Foreman, of Quincy, Illinois …as well as a host of other relatives.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon at Cane Hill, Arkansas. Interment will be made in the McClellan Cemetery at Cane Hill.

The Foreman children bridged Arkansas settler heritage and Cherokee Nation leadership, with descendants serving in the military, education and tribal affairs.
Ada lived into the 1930's, witnessing the transformation of both Cane Hill and the Cherokee Nationa through Reconstruction, Indiana Territory statehood, and WWI.
