A graveside service will be held for Wilma Goebel , 88, of Roswell at 11 am Friday, March 22, 2013 at South Park Cemetery with Rev. Dan Phelps officiating. Wilma passed away on Monday, March 18, 2013.
Wilma was born April 2, 1924 to Sterling and Maymie Parker in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Wilma and James were married on October 18, 1981.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved life, gardening and fishing. She also loved music and singing gospel songs. Wilma was always fearless and looking for adventure. Looked beautiful in her high heels. She will be sorely missed, we love you. Wilma didn’t wait for life to attack her, she attacked life !
She is survived by her husband, James Goebel of the family home; her daughters, Earlene Wages of Artesia, NM; Ruby Mahan and her husband, Mike of Artesia, NM and Terri Smith and her husband, Chris of Roswell, NM; her sisters, Ellen Srader and Carol Willmon both of Roswell, NM; her brother, Kenneth (Sonny) Parker and his wife, Mildred of Praire Grove, Arkansas; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sterling and Maymie Parker, her daughter, Betty Matthews, her brothers, Haskell, Basil, JW and Buddy Parker, her sisters, Lucille Franklin, Sybil Dalton, Charlotte Parker and Sterlene Whitaker, her niece, Joyce Lanphear, her granddaughters, Thelma (Tammy) Dodson and Barbree Dodson.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons Michael Mahan, Steven Mahan, David Wages, Harley Dodson, Nevada Smith and Tommy Harris.
Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons Ronald Froseth, Darrell Matthews and Joshua Matthews.
