Notes
Rosa Jane Lee, 52, of Center Township, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday evening, June 28, 1931, surrounded by the love of her family after many months of illness.
Born on July 23, 1878, near Dixon in Benton County, Arkansas, Rosa was the daughter of John Newton and Sarah Jane Nantz. She moved with her parents to the Bethel Grove community at a young age, where she grew up, attended school, and was active in Sunday school. It was there that she formed the foundation of faith and character that guided her throughout her life.
On December 8, 1895, Rosa married Charlie Lee, beginning a devoted partnership that lasted more than 35 years. She professed her faith in Christ as a young woman and lived it quietly and consistently, offering kindness, steadiness, and compassion to all who knew her.
Rosa was a loving mother, a thoughtful neighbor, and a loyal friend. Even during her long period of suffering, she remained cheerful and patient, always thinking of others before herself. Her gentle spirit and unwavering strength will be deeply missed by her family and the many friends whose lives she touched.
She is survived by her husband, Charlie; eight children-Loyd of Boise, Idaho; Birdie of Joplin, Missouri; and Dennie, Bryce, Merle, Meda, Reta, and Evaleta, all of the home; two daughters‑in‑law; five grandchildren; her sister, Anna Branson of Tahoka, Texas; and her brother, George Nantz of Tulsa, Oklahoma. All of her children except Loyd were able to be present for the funeral.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Bethel Grove Church with Rev. J. F. McCuistion officiating, assisted by Rev. George Pond. Burial followed at Farmington Cemetery under the direction of Joe L. King of Southern Funeral Service.
Pallbearers were Joe Howell, Dess Shumate, Harry Bennett, Harvey White, Jake Wetzel, and John Gaines. The family was deeply moved by the many beautiful floral tributes.
Rosa’s life was one of quiet faith, steadfast love, and service to others. Her memory will remain a blessing to all who knew her.
