James Minor Winn V
James Minor Winn V arrived in Washington County from Bedford County, Tennessee in 1832. On July 16, 1840. James Minor Winn homesteaded 160 acres where the townsite of West Fork is now located. He married Nancy Bloyed, daughter of Eli
and Nancy Graham Bloyed, in 1833. Eli Bloyed was the first settler in West Fork in 1828.

On September 4, 1853
Zadock married Mary Ann Caughman.
She was born February 20, 1835 and died September 13, 1910. Their home was directly across the street from the present West Fork Middle School. The first school in West Fork was constructed on Zadock Winn's land. This school was built with a shed on the front so the pupils could have lessons in the open air in warm weather. The schools were usually three-month terms so the children could help out with chores. Both Zadock and Mary Ann Winn were born in West Fork and lived their entire lives there.
In September, 1863, Zadok enlisted in Company D, Arkansas Cavalry and served in the Union until he was honorably discharged August 23, 1865. In 1882, he was appointed Deputy U.S. Marshall under Judge Thomas Boles.
They were the parents of ten children: Melvina (Hutcheson) born June 19, 1854; Nancy (Howard) born December 3, 1857;
Matilda (Bloyed) born February 10, 1860; William born July 20, 1862, died March 21, 1922;
Lucinda (Fitts) born February 27, 1865;
Hettie Pauline (Oxendine) born February 15, 1868;
Nettie Arena (Oxendine/Gode) born June 29, 1870;
Albert Sebron born July 8, 1873;
Almeda (Rutherford/Robinson) born October 20, 1877;
John Taylor, born November 22, 1878.
William Winn married Sarah Roseberry, who died, leaving him with two small children. He then married Adeline Lucinda Rutherford, January 25, 1891. She was born February 26, 1871, died March 1953.
Adeline was the daughter of John Wesley and Mary Jane Carney Rutherford. Their families were also among the earliest families of Washington County. William Winn was appointed Deputy U. S. Marshall under Jacob Yoes in 1890. He was part of the Oklahoma Strip Land Run in 1893. He was elected constable of West Fork in 1894. In 1902, he bought the farm on Winn Mountain. He had 1600 apple trees and they peddled apples by the wagon-load, often traveling as far as Fort Smith. They would camp along the way. William also owned a feed store which burned in the fire in 1919. One of his sons, Estel, along with Mr. Kittridge and George Latham, helped to rebuild the building in 1920. It is now the West Fork Administration building.

Zadok born September 14, 1906 died July 6, 1986 married June, 1928 Blanche Elnora Carr born March 20, 1907;
Ollie Pearl born November 1, 1908 married Paris Alexander;
Lena Bessie born November 29, 1912 married Raymond Phillips.
Johnny, Estel, Lillie, Snow and Loy were born in West Fork on Maple Street. Maude, Zadok, Pearl and Lena were born on Winn Mountain. Sometime after William's father, Zadok died in 1913, William and Addie got the house on White Street, when his estate was settled. The farm on Winn Mountain was forfeited in 1933 for non-payment of taxes.

LaRama Hazel born June 30, 1918 married LeRoy Burris, two children, Randy and Norma; Mary Wilma born November 30, 1922 married Doyle Stockburger.
Child of Zadok and Blanche Winn:
Clarence Jene born October 27, 1936 married February 25, 1955 in Bellflower, California Patricia Kay Woodson horn September 1, 1936.
Four generations of the Winn family were born in West Fork and lived there all their lives: Zadok Winn, his son William Winn, his son Estel Winn and his daughter LaRama Winn Burris are still living there.
In November 1986, C. Jene and Patti Winn traveled to West Fork, from Alaska, to see where his father and grandfather had lived. He found ten acres of his grandfather's farm on Winn Mountain for sale and purchased it. They are now building a home on the mountain.
