M.R. Rankin Rites Today

Funeral services for M.R. Rankin will be held this afternoon at two o'clock at Westminster Presbyterian Church with Rev. Edwin F. Dalstrom officiating.

Mr. Rankin, 68, a long time resident, successful insurance executive who had contributed greatly to this city in civic work, died Friday night at ten o'clock at his home, 814 14th Ave. SE, following a heart attack. He had suffered a heart attack early in January of this year and since that time had been under the care of a physician.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Frances J. Rankin; two sons, Rex Rankin and Charles R. Rankin, of Decatur; one step-son, Earl A. Ferguson, Decatur; one sister, Mrs. Lamar Penney, Decatur and one brother, Reu R. Rankin, Cassville, Mo, and six grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Paul Russell, I.B. Schmidt, A.L. Johnson, Sam Pruett Sr, Harvey Pride, L.W. Johnson, Douglas Rogers and William B. McBride. Interment will be made in Decatur City Cemetery, Guntharp directing.
