BALDWYN - Wilmuth Rankin Swords died Saturday, July 14, 2007, at the North Miss. Medical Center nursing home in Baldwyn. She was born March 7, 1912, at the historic John Ford Home in Sandy Hook to the late Clara Ford Rankin and William Edward Rankin. She was married to the late Ocie O. Swords in 1935. She was a talented homemaker, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed cooking, gardening and needlework. She entertained all of the children with stories of heritage and tales of growing up. Her family and friends all have fond memories of her servant heart and the fantastic meals that she prepared for them.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Waters Funeral Home in Baldwyn with Bro. Stanley Huddleston officiating. Burial will be in the Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Survivors include one son, Bill Swords and his wife, Mary, of Baldwyn; two daughters, Stella S. Weathersby and her husband, Bob, of Tupelo and Nancy S. Hopkins and her husband, Al, of Hamilton, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Bobby Weathersby (Cindy), Michael Weathersby, Ed Swords (Tina), Jim Swords (Christy), Susan Thames (William), Michelle Melcher (Timothy, Jason Hopkins (Melissa) and Melissa Hopkins; and her great-grandchildren, Christopher, Andrew and Whitney Melcher, Haley and Hayes Weathersby, Jacob, Samantha and Julia Swords, Will and Christopher Thames, Maria and Molly Swords, Kealy and Keagen Weathersby and Hailey and Hannah Hopkins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her son, James A. Swords.
