DORIS RANKIN TURNAGE, 88, Sandy Hook
Funeral services were held Monday, June 13, at 2 p.m., in the Carson Springs Baptist Church, for Doris Rankin Turnage, 88, of Sandy Hook, who died Thursday, June 9, at her residence. Interment was in the Carson Springs Cemetery. The Reverend Carl Dickens officiated at the services. Visitation was held Sunday, June 12, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Carson Springs.
She was born November 20, 1922 in Marion County, Mississippi, the daughter of the late Sedgie Ford and Leitha Forbes Rankin. She was a homemaker and a member of Carson Springs Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Ned Lee Turnage; one brother, Rossie Rankin; and one sister, Stella McKennion. Survivors include one son and his wife, Daniel Ford and Kay Turnage of Sandy Hook; one daughter and her husband, Amy and Cassell Tullos of Columbia; two brothers Edward Rankin of Austin, Texas, and Frank Rankin of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida; four sisters Jessie Merle Gregory of San Jose, California, Patricia Barnhart of Houston, Texas, Judy Prendible of Mobile, Alabama, and Lennie Mills of Pascagoula, Mississippi; five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Douglas Turnage, Ronnie Stogner, Tommy Stogner, Ned McCain, Jamie McCain, and Chris Thomas. Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
