Dorothy Rankin

Dorothy R. Smith, 93, of Rogers passed away Thursday, March 21, 2013, at Circle of Life in Springdale.

She was born on Feb. 11, 1920, in Gentry, Ark., to Florence Runyan and Robert J. Rankin.

Dorothy graduated from Gentry High School, the class of 1937. In 1940, she married Vol W. Smith. They lived in several states because of Vol's work with Al Johnson Construction Company, retiring in Lowell in 1975. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Rogers and the Willing Workers Sunday school class. She was also a life member of the Order of Eastern Star and Beta Sigma Phi.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and sister, Mary Thomas.

She is survived by her two daughters, Beverly S. Jackson (George) of Birmingham, Ala., and Ann Millsap (David) of Dallas, Texas; two grandsons, Charles and Scott (Brandy) Millsap of Dallas, Texas; and three great-grandchildren, Kayla, Preston and Cassidy Millsap of Dallas, Texas. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, many friends and staff at Innisfree Retirement Community and friends in the community, especially Joan Dick.

A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. March 22 at First United Methodist Church, Rogers, with Pastor Sandra Wanasek officiating.

Private burial will be in Barron Cemetery in Vaughn, Ark.
