Claude Edward Jones

Claude E. Jones, age 83, Carl Junction, Mo., passed away on Sunday, Aug. 14, 2011, at his home following an illness.

Claude was born on March 11, 1928, in Stark City, Mo., the son of the late Artie and Ethel (Craton) Jones. He has been a Joplin resident since 1953, moving here from Siloam Springs. He served in the United Sates Army. He worked as an optician for Dr. Huff and Dr. Meredith, retiring in 1992. He was a member of First Christian Church.

He married Nadine Carrick on Jan. 21, 1950, in Bentonville, Ark. She preceded him in death on June 17, 1985.

He was also preceded in death by three brothers; and one sister.

He is survived by two daughters, Jan Rose and husband, Gary, Carl Junction, and Joyce Jones, Joplin; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Mason-Woodard Chapel. Fay Blevins, Minister and Kent Pratt will officiate. Burial will be in Diamond Cemetery. The pallbearers will be Shane VanStavern, Ethan Glor, Rusty Kunkler, Roger Jones, Randy Doyle and Scott Pennington. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary.

Memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association.
