Daniel Worth Cann was born in Greenbury, Green county, Kentucky, October 12, 1852, and died February 25, 1926, in Prairie Grove, Arkansas, aged 73 gears, 4 months and 12 days. September 1, 1881 he was united in marriage Miss Elizabeth Lot.

To this union 12 children were born, 10 of whom seven girls and three boys-are living. In 1868 Mr. Conn moved Prairie Grove, where he has since made his home. When only eight years of age he was converted and united with the Cumberland Church and remained a faithful loyal member until the end.

He has a ruling elder for 35 years.

Funeral services were held at he Cumberland church Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, con- ducted by Rev. C. H. Sherman, pastor of the Methodist church who paid a beautiful tribute to the deceased. The choir sang, "Asleep in Jesus" and "Shall We Meet Beyond the River;" Mrs. J. P. Edmiston and R. C. Lee sang "The Old Rugged Cross."

Interment was in the Prairie Grove cemetery beneath a wreath of lovely flowers. Surviving relatives are his wife and the following children: Mesdames. R. S. ...J. Craft, G. W. McCuistion. Alvin Thomas, W. L. Bates, Misses Irene and Frances Conn and C. W., Paul and ClaBorn Conn.

Longtime Alaska pioneer James Cann, 88, of Anchorage, Alaska, passed away on Sunday, Jan.

24, 2021, at Providence Extended Care - Talkeetna Cottage. A celebration of life will be held at a

later date.

James was the younger of two sons born to Milton Clayborn Cann and Zella Stevens, on Sept. 7,

1932, in Summers, Ark. He grew up on the family farm, and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

James married Joye Lurelia Calico on Aug. 31, 1953. After returning from his service in the U.S.

Army with grand stories of Alaska, they drove up the Alaska Highway, arriving in Anchorage in

May 1956.

James and Joye began homesteading on the Burma Road in 1959. They raised their two

children on their homestead until they moved to Anchorage in 1966. James served in the Air

National Guard at Kulis Air National Guard Base, flying in and out of Anchorage daily from their

homestead.

James pursued his lifelong passion for hunting and fishing and became a registered guide. He

actively guided hunters through 1988. James was a welder on the North Slope in the early days

of the oilfield development.

James loved to fish the Little Susitna River, and was known as a fish-a-holic amongst his family

and friends. He built his own smoker, where he spent years perfecting his smoked salmon.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Milton Clayborn and Zella Cann; brother, Wayne

Cann; wife, Joye Cann; and son, Jon Cann. He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Barr and

son-in-law Murray Barr; grandchildren, Sherrill Collins and husband Ryan Collins and Keith

Smith; and great-grandchildren, Briana Smith, Griffin Collins and Rosa Smith.

James will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

age 96, a resident of Prairie Grove, passed away Monday July 10th, 2023, at Willard Walker

Hospice House in Fayetteville. She was born August 3rd, 1926, in Savoy Arkansas to Russell

and Eula Tate.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Daniel Wayne Cann; parents, Russell

and Eula Tate; brothers and their wives, Max and Arlene Tate, Homer and Viola Tate, LD and

Katherine Tate; and one grandson, Cameron Alexander Clayton.

Survivors include a daughter, Elaine Clayton and husband Rick of Prairie Grove; grandchildren,

Meredith Green and husband Blu of Farmington, Daniel Clayton and wife Jamie of Fayetteville;

great grandchildren, Nora and Tripp Green, Emma and Beau Clayton; Sister-in-law, Dorotha Tate

of West Fork.

She was a lifelong Methodist and a member of First United Methodist Church in Prairie Grove for

over 70 years. Her faith was rooted in knowing God's love and it was always present in her

commitment to friends and family. She had a great spirit, loving soul, and loved to laugh. She

would tell you she never had a bad day. She was an accomplished card player and loved to win.

She and her husband owned and operated Cann's Baits for over 30 years and sold their fishing

lures all over the United States.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Prairie Grove or the Prairie

Grove Senior Center.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 12th, 2023, 7:00-8:00 PM at Luginbuel Funeral

Home in Prairie Grove, Arkansas.
