John served in the Pacific Theater during World War II and was decorated

for valor and wounds received in combat. Later he graduated from Texas

A&M University earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Management.

After twenty years in the military he continued his career with the

Department of the Army as the Director of Training (GS-14) for the 122nd

Army Reserve Command completeing 45 years of government service before

retiring to Northwest Arkansas;

He was preceded in death by his wife and mother of his children,

Dorothy Jenneman Ackley and by his second wife, Anna Carolyn Loy Ackley;

two brothers, Martin and Harry Ackley.

He is survived by two daughters, Tommi Louise Perkins and Patricia Jill

Pummill, both of Fayetteville; one son, Martin M. Ackley of Springdale;

and numerous nieces, nephews and grandchildren;
