Mr. D. Thomas Rankin, 58, of Moultrie Drive, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 1999, at his residence.

Burial will be in Southlawn Cemetery.

Mr. Rankin, a native of Pittsburgh, Pa., was a scientist with Savannah River Site and was an Army veteran. He was a member of the Perpetual Adoration and had served as a volunteer with the CSRA Swim League and the Aiken-Augusta Swim League for 20 years. He was a fellow and a trustee with the American Ceramic Society and a member of the National Institute of Ceramic Engineers, Keramos, and Sigma Xi. He was a member of St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Anne S. Rankin; two daughters, Molly Rankin and Alison Rankin, both of Spartanburg; his mother, Margaret B. Rankin, Pittsburgh; and two brothers, Robert W. Rankin, Riverview, Mich., and John F. Rankin, Greensburg, Pa.
