John Knox Rankin Sr.

SAN MATEO, Calif. - Private services for John K. Rankin, 68, of San Mateo, an insurance administrator who died Feb. 3, were held in Carimont Funeral Chapel. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, in Hardin, Mont.

Mr. Rankin was born in Crow Agency, Mont., a son of Carl and Bessie Rankin. He graduated at the University of Montana and was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. He moved to California 35 years ago. He was employed 30 years with the Great American Indemnity Insurance Co. He was a member of Montana State Historical Society, and the Quarter Century Club of Insurance Administrators.

Survivors include three daughters, Sue K. Hergert of Antioch, Sara K. Jackowitz and Robert L. Hudson of Foster City; a brother, Carl E. Rankin of Laguna Beach, and five grandchildren. His former wife, Helene R. Rankin, is of Sunnyvale, Calif..
