Tribute to Wesley L. or W.L. Johnson
L. Johnson was born in Washington County, Ark., Dec. 18, 1859; died Dec. 24, 1918. He made a profession of religion in early manhood and joined the Baptist church, and lived a consistent Christian life. He was always interested in church work and contributed liberally to the support of the church. He always gave the ministers a hearty welcome into his home and always had a word of encouragement for them.
He was twice married, first to Miss Malicie Jane Gibson on Jan. 22, 1882. To this union were born seven children, three dying in infancy, four surviving him: three daughters-Miss Hattie Johnson of Fayetteville, Mrs. Lela Holcom of Harrison, Mrs. Leon Thomas of Fayetteville-and Tom Johnson of Harris. His first wife died July 12, 1904.
He was married to Mrs. Jeo Carney Dec. 19, 1909.
His funeral was conducted in the Baptist church at Fayetteville by Rev. J. F. Parker, assisted by Rev. Ragland of
Fayetteville, and the remains brought to the Farmington cemetery for burial.
