Obituary

Charles E. "Chuck" Webb, age 74 of Prairie Grove, Arkansas passed away Sunday, August 13th, 2017 at Washington Regional Medical Center. Chuck was born November 8, 1942 in Kermit, Texas to Pauline Devers Webb and Thomas Edward Webb. 

Chuck graduated from Rogers High School in May 1960 and then attended the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville until 1962. He served in the United States Army from March 1962 until March 1965 and was stationed in South Korea near the DMZ for 13 months. 

Chuck joined the Arkansas State Police July 1, 1970 and retired with the rank of Corporal August 1, 1995. 

He was an avid ham radio operator, obtaining his license in 1978. One of his favorite pastimes was Field Day every year with his ham radio buddies. He, along with other operators in surrounding states, helped pioneer the computer network they used to transmit data before the internet was publicly available and also ran the bulletin board for their communications before email was being used. 

He was of Methodist faith. He enjoyed traveling, especially trips to the beach. He loved his family very much and he will be greatly missed. 

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Mary Ann Rich Webb, daughter, Marla Kathleen Webb, and her fiancé, Scott Brocail, his sister, Linda Webb Ingram of Lawton, OK, sister-in-law Jane Rich of New Bern, NC, brothers-in-law Joseph Rich and wife Peggy of Santa Clara, CA, Robert Rich and wife Nancy of Converse, TX, and many cousins, nieces and nephews who loved him and enjoyed being around him. 

Burial is at the National Cemetery in Fayetteville, AR. Reverend Joe Hall is officiating his memorial service which will be held Friday, August 18, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Luginbuel Funeral Home in Prairie Grove. Visitation with family and friends to follow the service.
