Tributes

Loyd Wayne: My wife, Laura, had cancer surgery last week and we must be back at the surgeons office on Monday, in Batesville, Arkansas. Unfortunatley, we will not be able to attend Uncle Donnie's funeral service. As you know, he was a hero to many of us. I have always appreciated his unspoken guidance as his example spoke volumns! Uncle Donnie was really talented. I can still close my eyes and see him playing guitar and singing which always brought chill bumps to my arms. My Grandpa Reed was proud of all of his children as each had a special talent in one arena or another. When my uncles (Albert, Donnie, Charley, Shug and Jack) made music under that big Oak tree out north of Lincoln with 40 or so of us grandchildren gathered around, Grandpa, with his booming voice, would say, "Now that's good music!" Uncle Donnie had a unique singing voice. A voice that has entertained literally thousands and thousands of music fans for a long time. No doubt about it, Nashville has never produced and will never produce a better sining voice than that of Uncle Donnie. Best of all, he was a Christian. We are all going to miss him so much. Signed, Robert Earl Reed Loyd Wayne, you and your family have always treated the Reed's (and everyone else) with such kindness and genuine friendship. Thanks for being just who you are. - Bob

It has been the privilege of Marvin and myself to have known both Don and Jackie since we have been members of the Eastgate Church of Christ at Siloam Springs. We are honored to have had Don as our Christian brother and Jackie as our Christian sister. Both have been an insirpation to us, and it was always so good to see them at Church and fellowship with them. We both realized that Don had been through some very rough times and we always kept both he and Jackie in our daily prayers. To us, it was a miracle from God with Don bouncing back from so much illness. We will continue to do so now as well as keeping Jackie in our prayers, and we feel so fortunate to have been able to see him before he left this earth to be in the presence of the Lord. God bless you Don and Jackie and all your family.
