Eugene "Yogi" Hamilton

Age 85, a resident of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, passed away Monday, April 15, 2024 at Willard Walker Hospice Home in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He was born August 20, 1938 in Cove City, Arkansas, the son of James "Jim" and Dora Lee (Carter) Hamilton.

Eugene served in the Air National Guard for 5 years, one year of active duty during the Bay of Pigs Invasion. He retired as Vice-President of Operations for 40 years with Ozarks Electric. Yogi served Prairie Grove and surrounding communities in numerous capacities including, Prairie Grove Planning Commission, Prairie Grove City Council, Prairie Grove School Board, and Justice of the Peace on the Washington County Quorum Court. He also was an auctioneer for the Washington County Livestock Auction.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Merrel and Orville, and three sisters Opal, Othalee and Betty.

Survivors include his wife of sixty-five years, Connie Jo Hamilton; one son Scott Hamilton and wife Michelle; one daughter Tammy West and husband Roger all of Prairie Grove, Arkansas; five grandchildren Timothy Hamilton, Logan West and wife Taylor, Aaron West, Hunter Hamilton and Trenton Hamilton; four great grandchildren Owen, Liam, Heidi, and Bennett; numerous nieces, nephews and countless friends.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 17, 2024, 6:00-8:00 PM at Luginbuel Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, April 18th, 2024, at Viney Grove Methodist Church in Prairie Grove, Arkansas. Burial will be in the Prairie Grove Cemetery, there will be no graveside service held.

Pallbearers will be Tim Hamilton, Trenton Hamilton, Logan West, Hunter Hamilton, Aaron West, and Chris Teel.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Larry Bell, Randy West, Cecil Tyree, John Everett, Terry Howerton, and Brody Bartholomew.
