I know Coach Green felt out of his element when he took me to my school tennis tournaments. What I appreciated was that he still knew how to be a great coach...how to challenge me, encourage me, and comfort me even though he wasn't a tennis player. He was a special man and my prayers are with his family. Thank you for all of the years you shared him with us players.
Ellie Evans Esry - player
Beth and family, What a wonderful man we have all lost. Mike Green was one of the very best to come to PG and share all his love and knowledge of sports with so many kids. Parents always felt so good about having Mike coach our kids. He was so good to help the kids with problems they would not always want to share with parents, even then he would always tell them talk to your parents, but sometimes Mike was who they needed to listen. I know he was always there for the class of 87. You are in our hearts and prayers. Allyne

I have known and worked with Coach Green for 10 plus years. What I remember and appreciate the most is how he treated my girls. He always made a point to brag on Makenzie when he watched her play ball. Rylie has been raised on the fields and it never fail to see him and her playing or arguing over something. My family and I will surely miss him.
Darren Bignar - friend
Coaches have an opportunity to be an important influence in the lives if young people. Mike went above and beyond by actually caring so much about each one of them. He offered encouragement when they were down and our son was one of those. When coach would call him @ st. Jude his face would light up and his day was better. This was just one child but there were so many more that he helped. We are saddened by the loss and our thoughts and prayers are with his family. Thank you coach for your loving spirit. You will be missed. The Blakemore family

I am soo grateful to have spent much of my childhood in the Green Household. Mike would often come home after school and entertain us kids that Beth would babysit. One of my favorite memories is when we would beg Mike to sing "Achy Breaky Heart" by Billy Ray Cyrus to make us laugh. Now Mike is gone and our hearts really are breaking. He will sorely be missed. Our hearts and prayers go out To Beth and the family.

Words cannot express the sadness and heart ache we all feel for your family at this time. There will NEVER be another Coach Green in this community. He was the BEST, not only to his family but to ALL of ours in Prairie Grove. I had 6 children go thru the P.G. School and never once did I hear a bad or negative word come from him. He was ALWAYS there for HIS kids. And for that I will FOREVER be grateful. I will miss that smile that I would see on his face as I walked in or out of a store or at the school. Wherever he was he was NEVER too busy or in too much of a hurry to smile and stop and visit with you. COACH GREEN: YOU HAVE TRULEY TOUCHED OUR COMMUNITY: THANK YOU

There are few left like Coach Green. His style of play, and methods of coaching inspired players at Lead Hill to love a game, and not just play. May God's peace comfort the family until they are reunited.

There are some folks that we just don't ever think of being without. Mike Green was one of those guys. He had that smile that was undeniably AWESOME. There was NEVER a student he didn't help in their time of need. He was more than a coach, he was their friend. He taught our children how to win with excitement and lose with grace. He taught us parents to always have faith that our child COULD do it. He taught us how to sit through wins and losses. He never passed by without saying hello even when he was in a hurry. He encouraged so many to never give up to keep trying no matter how hard it got. He taught us not everyone can play ball but we could all be a part of a TEAM. Coach you will 100% be missed everyday at PGHS, at basketball and football games, at all the event you went to because you cared, and wanted to show your KIDS support. I am so thankful that my children had someone like you to show them the things they needed to know. To Coach's family I can only say a few things, 1) Thank you for sharing this wonderful person with all of us, you gave up nights of family time so that we could share in your life and your journeys. 2) We all appreciate the love you have always shown to all of us even though times were hard for your own family. 3) Thank you for letting us be a part of your life, for sharing your happy times with coach, your sad times with coach and the days when we just weren't sure how things would turn out. The days ahead will for sure be emotional and we will be here for you like Coach would expect us to be. He taught us in times of sadness we are one big family and we have to ban together to make it through, and we will make it through together. I feel sometimes God leaves the stronger ones to carry on, so we now have to be strong for you in your time of need. God bless you all and RIP Coach until we see you again.

To the family, Sorry to hear about Coach. I haven’t been in the area for a long time and the news of Coach passing away is sad to all of us. Coach Green was a wonderful man and he inspired me to do great things in my life. We talked a lot my senior year and the knowledge Coach passed on to me, I share to this day with many people. He will truly be missed.
Matthew Bartholomew - Class of 1989
To the Green family; we all loved him. One of the highlights of my morning during the years I was dropping off kids at the high school was to see Coach Green outside the school, coffee in hand, smiling and greeting each and every kid as they came to the front door. What a great way to start the day; knowing someone cares about you and is glad to see you. He was a great teacher, I heard, and he was a great influence on so many kids. I loved to see him at games; he had such a great smile and always asked about the kids, years after they left Prairie Grove. We all loved him, and we are so sorry for your loss. A class act...will be so missed. Please accept the sympathy of Ken and Linda and the Coffey kids
Linda Coffey - parent of students
Coach green was a very kind and caring man he will be deeply missed and never forgotten. Prayers for his family
April black - Former student
There is no way to truly know how many lives Coach Green touched and influenced over the many years he lived in this small town, but it is quite evident by all the tributes on here , all the wonderful "Coach Green "memories posted on Facebook, and the packed gymnasium at his service , that the number is definitely quite large. No matter what hat he wore ( coach, teacher, mentor, or simply friend) he did an excellent job at it. Beth, Mary, Blu, and the rest of Mike's family , y'all did an amazing job creating such a fitting and unique service to pay tribute and to celebrate Mike's life. He may be gone from this earthly home to his Heavenly one, but his spirit and legacy will live on forever in the halls of Prairie Grove High. Your whole family will remain in my thoughts and prayers in the coming weeks. My deepest sympathy to you all.....
Laura Bell Patrick - Former player/ friend of Mary
Beth and family thinking of you during this time. I have some of by best memories being crazy with you and Mike and our group of friends back in the day...a few moons ago. Love you and praying for peace and comfort to come Godspeed!
Toy Setzer - Friend
May you find comfort and peace during this difficult knowing how big of an impact he had on many. He will never be forgotten!
Michelle Ross Fox - Student - Class of '97
Although I was not a student of Coach Green's, I am a wife of one. When my husband tells stories about growing up in a trailer park--which is often, he always tells the story of Coach Green going out to his house numerous times to pick him up for basketball practice. Coach Green made sure my husband attended practice while also teaching him the power of integrity. Even though my husband wasn't a "starter" on the team, Coach Green always made him feel just as important.
