Obituary

Deborah Ann "Debby" Eagle

Age 73, a resident of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, passed away Monday, May 27, 2024 at Willard Walker Hospice Home in Fayetteville, Arkansas. She was born November 11, 1950 in Dumas, Arkansas, the daughter of James William and Betty Jean (Brooks) Smith.

Born in 1950, Debby Ann Eagle (neé Smith) grew up picking cotton with her brother and sisters on a family farm in Dumas, AR, where she was baptized in 1963.

She moved to Little Rock to pursue x-ray school. Shortly after finishing school she started as a radiologic technologist at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Pine Bluff. Next was seventeen years at Springdale Memorial Hospital. Following these positions, she went on to work for only two other doctors through her 50 year career, showing her dedication to her profession, her colleagues, and her community. She was a member of the American Society of Radiologic Technologists and the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.

She married Gary Eagle on October 6, 1976 and with that began a deeply loving marriage that lasted 47 years. Debby and Gary were members of Temple Baptist Church for 44 years, since 1980.

In 1981, Debby and Gary celebrated the birth of their son, Michael. Their beloved son immediately became the center of their world, and both Debby and Gary gave everything they had to raise him. If there was a sports game, a music event, or an adventure Michael had a part in, Debby and Gary were there to watch, cheer, and support him.

She was an avid gardener, reader, and expert decorator and organizer.

She loved listening to music with her husband, notably The Beatles, Elvis, Elton John, Billy Joel, KT Oslin, and Adelle.

She went to a St. Louis Cardinals home game every year from 1991 to 2023, and was a die-hard Arkansas Razorbacks fan, especially Football, Men's & Women's Basketball, Baseball and Softball.

Debby traveled all over the county with Gary and Michael for family vacations, baseball games, and for Michael's many music events and performances.

She was a loving daughter, caring for her mother, Betty, in her final years, and a loving sister to Linda, Sue, and Greg.

She was valued and appreciated by so many in her medical and church communities and among family, but the place she loved to be most of all was with her husband and son in their beautiful home in the woods on the mountain in Prairie Grove, Arkansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister Sue Smith.

Survivors include her husband Gary Eagle; one son Michael B. Eagle and Allison H. Hamilton of New York, New York; one brother J.Greg Smith and Jackie Smith of Dumas, Arkanas; one sister Linda K. Storey and Jack Storey of Little Rock, Arkansas; eleven nieces and nephews along with dozens of cousins and extended family.
