Research Notes
Jonathan Elms was also an early lawyer and practiced in the Justic of the Peace court where most criminal cases were settle in those early days of the Summers Community of Wasington County. He also wrote deeds and mortgages. After the Civil War he was appointed Deputy Clerk of Washington County, to issue marriage licenses in the west end of Washington County, Arkansas.
