Clark Jackson Spears, 86, of Fayetteville, died Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 7, 1924, in the Weddington Community, the son of Henry Calvin and Iris Ingram Spears. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Winters Spears in 1996.
He was a retired auto parts salesman. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Philippines and having been awarded a Purple Heart. He was a member and deacon at Farmington Baptist Church.
He is survived by a daughter, Lynda Brumley and her husband, Wayne, of Fayetteville; a son, James Spears and his wife, Denise, of Fayetteville; five grandchildren, Teresa Dutton and her husband, Pat, of Fayetteville, Sheril Boaz and her husband, Pete, of Elkins, Sharon Perona and her husband, Michael, of Farmington, Deanne Drain and her husband, David, of Fayetteville and Melanie Higgs and her husband, Adam, of Farmington; 11 great-grandchildren, Ruston and Anna Dutton of Fayetteville, Alicia and Jessica Boaz of Elkins, Brandon and Derek Perona of Farmington; Colby, Alyssa, Nikki and Kaci Drain of Fayetteville and Tyler Higgs of Farmington.
Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 17, at Farmington Baptist Church, under the direction of Moore's Chapel. Officiating will be the Rev. Preston Beeks. Burial will be private.
