BURKETT, Matilda A. GIBSON - Matilda A. Gibson, only daughter of John A. and Virginia Gibson, and wife of Geo. W. Burkett, was born in Washington county, Ark. Oct. 27th, 1850; made a public profession of religion in 1867 and connected herself with the Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Cincinnati, where she remained a consistent member until her death which occurred on Jan. 13th, 1889. She was married to Mr. Geo. W. Burkett Oct. 30th, 1874 and was the mother of seven children, three of whom preceded her to the land of rest. The last that died, a babe of one year, she said she would not grieve after as she would soon follow it, for well she knew that the dread disease, consumption, was fast eating her life away.
