Research Notes
Araminta Richardson
93, a resident of Little Rock, Arkansas, and former resident of Cane Hill, Arkansas,
passed away June 2, 2006 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Little Rock,
Arkansas. She was born September 27, 1912 at Pecan Gap, Texas, the daughter of
Davis and Mittie Ross Richardson.
She was a member of the Farmington Baptist Church, and an American Legion Post
member in Lincoln, Arkansas. Araminta served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as
a Pharmacists Mate 2nd Class in Charleston, South Carolina, where she was an X-Ray
technician and developed a life long interest in photography. She taught piano, organ
and voice throughout Northwest Arkansas for many years. Araminta lived in Bentonville
and Cane Hill, Arkansas were she was instrumental in founding the Cane Hill Pioneer
Days and the Cane Hill College Museum. She received her Bachelors Degree and
Masters Degree in Music from SMU.
She was preceded in death by five brothers Charles, Harold, Davis, Allen, and Otis
Richardson, three sisters Clara, Ruth, and Laureen, and three infant siblings.
Survivors include one sister Mary Tindall of Texas; many nieces, nephews, and
cousins, and countless students and friends.
Viewing will be Sunday June 4, 2006 - 1 :00 to 6:00 P.M. at the Luginbuel Funeral
Home.
Funeral Service will be held Monday June 5, 2006 -10:00 A.M. at the Farmington
Baptist Church in Farmington, Arkansas, with Preston Beeks officiating, burial will follow
at the National Cemetery in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
