Joseph Christopher Ferrell, age 66, passed away peacefully at his home April 4, 2022. Joe was born in Fayetteville in 1955, the 10th of 11 children born to renowned Arkansas Razorback trainer William "Bill" Ferrell and his wife Rita. Joe received his educational and moral base at St. Joseph Catholic School, and finished his early education graduating from Fayetteville High School. He attended the U of A before beginning his working career in business which concluded with his retirement from the electrical supply industry. During his life Joe was an avid sportsman with a special passion for fishing. As often as possible with his busy schedule, he would take time to join his many friends, and often his brothers, Bobby and Richard, to spend an afternoon angling in local streams and lakes. He played baseball from Pee-Wee League through American Legion and followed up with many years in amateur softball leagues. He was a lifelong dedicated fan of all Arkansas Razorback sports. In his 20's and 30's he enjoyed line dancing, and because of his lanky, slender build and enthusiasm on the dance floor was given the moniker "Slim" by his brothers.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Judy Mauldin Gibeault, Edward Ferrell, Rita Ferrell Keever, and Bobby Ferrell. He is survived by siblings, Bill Ferrell of Austin, Texas, Rachael Ferrell McGrew (Larry) of Little Rock, Richard Ferrell of Mountain Home, Ann Ferrell Wilson (David) of Fayetteville, Virginia Ferrell Russell and Carol "Dubie" Duerr (Delmar) of Fayetteville. He is also survived by 23 loving nieces and nephews and his loyal canine companion "Sadie".
A Visitation will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1722 N. Starr Dr, Fayetteville, Arkansas, at 9:30 a.m., April 8, followed at 10 by the Rosary and a Funeral Mass at 10:30. The family wishes to offer special thanks to the Keep It Simple Gang at St. Paul's Episcopal Church for their friendship and support of Joe. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Joseph Catholic School.
